Dental Exam

When you see Dr Barnes for an initial exam, she will:

  • Examine diagnostic x-rays (radiographs) essential for detection of decay, tumors, cysts, and bone loss.  X-rays also help determine tooth and root positions.
  • Perform an oral cancer screening: Check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer.
  • Evaluate your mouth for gum disease (periodontal disease).  Check the gums and bone around the teeth for any signs of periodontal disease.
  • Check all tooth surfaces for signs of decay.
  • Examine your existing dental restorations : Check current fillings, crowns, etc.
